Technical Approach

Our design uses rubble-filled gabions as load-bearing walls.  The gabions will be plastered and painted.  Roofs will be constructed from welded reinforcing bars and can be sheathed in corrugated metal or, where appropriate, thatch.  They will, from all appearances, look identical to the typical homes found throughout rural and urban Haiti.  The basic building components (walls, roofs, cisterns, toilets, etc.) can be configured in any manner to satisfy the needs of individual families and the limits of their home sites.
